The Power of Affirmations and How to Use Them for Abundance

The Power of Affirmations and How to Use Them for Abundance

Lately I’ve been thinking about the way I talk to myself. For years I caught myself saying things like “I’ll never have enough” or “things never work out for me.” I didn’t even realize how often those words came up until one day I stopped and really listened. It hit me that the voice in my head was constantly telling me a story of lack. No wonder I always felt behind.

That’s when I started experimenting with affirmations. At first it felt awkward, almost like I was pretending. But the more I practiced, the more I noticed a shift. I wasn’t suddenly rich or free of problems, but I carried myself differently. I had more hope, more openness. And with that came opportunities I might have missed before.

Affirmations have become part of my daily rhythm now, and they’ve helped me build an abundance mindset—one where I feel like there is enough love, enough money, enough opportunity, enough of everything. If you want to try them too, here’s how I started.

Step One: Write Them Like Promises to Yourself

Don’t worry about making them perfect. Think about what you wish someone would tell you on your hardest days, and turn that into a statement you can tell yourself. Keep it positive, in the present tense, and personal.

  • Instead of “I don’t want to be broke,” try “I am learning to welcome money with ease.”
  • Instead of “I’m tired of being unlucky,” try “Good things flow into my life every day.”

Step Two: Speak Them Out Loud

I stand in front of the mirror most mornings and say mine out loud. It feels strange in the beginning, but hearing your own voice claim something new has power. It’s like planting a seed in your mind that you water each day.

Step Three: Keep Them Close

I write them in my journal at night, stick them on little notes around my house, and even set them as reminders on my phone. It helps me bump into them throughout the day so they don’t fade away.

Step Four: Pair Them with Action

Affirmations aren’t about wishing and waiting. They’re about shifting your energy so you can take action from a place of belief instead of fear. When I say “I am open to new opportunities,” I make sure to actually send the email, apply for the role, or step into the room.

Step Five: Be Patient and Gentle with Yourself

Some days you’ll feel the words deeply. Other days they might feel hollow. That’s okay. What matters is consistency. Over time the words sink in, and what once felt like pretending starts to feel like truth.

Writing this down almost feels like I’m talking to my younger self—the one who thought she had to hustle endlessly and still never be enough. If I could go back, I’d tell her this: the way you speak to yourself matters. Affirmations aren’t magic spells, but they are little love notes you give your mind. And if you keep showing up for yourself, abundance slowly stops being something far away and becomes the way you live.
